RIDING Out With SUZIE Q

PART I

The Genesis

Ron and Jennifer

Before arriving at Redmond, WA, USA, I was in touch with Mr. Ron Mathewson from New Jersey. Two years back we had met on flickr.com via a riding group. Over time we became great net friends.
Ron offered to fly out from New Jersey to Seattle and ride with me with his wife Jennifer. June 01, 2008 was decided as the date for us to ride together.
I therefore became imperative for me to become familiar with the Harley Davidson bike before they arrived.

Lean Mix & Higher Altitude riding!!

I had been to such Himalayan terrains several times and as per experts who had covered these terrains before had advised on their blogs and forums to use only rich mix as the bike would require loads of power. It really didn’t make sense to me but I always had rich mix on carburetor. This time around I adjusted the carburetor without any hesitation. My experiment was to see how it really works, my Pulsar 180 is the first model that came out in the market and I always treated her with loads of respect.

Acclimatization

Acclimatization

The major cause of altitude illnesses is riding too high too fast. Human body is not use to decreasing oxygen areas and its basically an adaptation process for the body to get the best results. It increases your respiration capability to get more oxygen.

Day 3

After the torture that I had gone through the entire night I felt that it was all worth every moment of it. Woke Vikas up and told him what happened with me the previous night, the reply was ME TOO.

Seemed like I was not alone. We did get some sleep but for short periods of time. I got up and took a few shots of the Sky and surroundings. Here it is.

Day 2

0600 - Woke up early after a good decent sleep without any disturbance. Felt like being in heaven after the sleep. Woke up lazy and sat on the bed and stretching myself to glory if you know what I mean. Had a few cups of Tea and fags and woke up Vikas [Crack] as well. Early sunrise was perfect but Sun rose way too early than expected. Our plan was to reach Rohtang by Sunrise but by 6am it was way too bright and felt like 8am rather. We were fresh for the start of the next leg of our Trip across Mountains. This is the day when we truly start exploring the real Himalayaz. Return to Himalayaz IV had just begun.
