CLIMATE

Ladakh lies on the rain shadow side of the Himalayan. Where dry monsoon winds reaches Leh after being robbed of its moisture in plains and the Himalayan Mountain. The district combines the condition of both arctic and desert climate. Therefore Ladakh is often called “COLD DESERT”

The main features of this COLD DESERT are:

Seasonal fluctuations in temperature with -40°C in Winter and + 35°C in Summer
Precipitation is very low with annual precipitation of 10cm mainly inform of snow.
Air is very dry and relative humidity range from 6-24%
Due to high altitude and low humidity the radiation level is very high. The global solar radiation is as high as 6-7 KWh/mm (which is among the highest in the World)
Dust storms are very common in the afternoon
Soil is thin , sandy and porous
The entire area is devoid of any natural vegetation
Irrigation is mainly through channels from the glacier-melted snow

Day 3 Sarchu – Leh:

The experience would be really cold the night before, once you are up … and ready to go, get up early and start the wonder full journey …
You will witness the Gata Loops [ 21 in total ]
The another pass -  Nakee La [15547ft above sea level], not far off from there you will come across another high pass Lachulung La (16616 ft). You would reach here by 11am or so … if you had left early … take your time enjoying the beauty of the hills and the Ladakh Valley……
Pang would be the next stop for you….. This is another place you would get eatables, Tanglang La pass (17582ft). You would more often encounter hail storm or snow fall on this pass… as our previous experience goes… Once you reach the top… you would find you self in heaven … no other word would describe the experience better…from here Leh city is close by and you would finally reach leh on the down hill ride…
